Same rules, a fresh look — tap any theme to play it on the classic 4×4 board.
2048 Space Basics is an astronomy-themed version of classic 2048 designed around the solar neighborhood instead of abstract numbers. Every merge pushes the board from the inner planets toward the outer planets and then into larger cosmic structures.
This version follows the direction you picked: the eight planets first, then Pluto, then a couple of larger space milestones to complete the full 11-step ladder.
The rules stay exactly the same as classic 2048. You slide every tile in one direction, matching tiles merge into the next level, and the challenge is keeping the board organized long enough to reach the final cosmic goal.
The ladder now follows a clean planetary order before stepping out to larger space systems.
Use arrow keys on desktop or swipe gestures on mobile to move every space tile at once.
When two matching tiles touch, they merge into the next level in the cosmic progression. After each valid move, a new low-level tile appears in an empty cell.
Your goal is to keep the board stable long enough to build the Galaxy at level 11.
Space Basics is meant to feel readable and intuitive. The early ladder uses the familiar order of the planets before stepping outward, so it is a good first stop for a space-themed 2048 page.
That makes it a nice bridge between plain number play and more advanced astronomy themes.

The smartest approach is still standard 2048 strategy: keep your highest space tile in one corner, build a clean descending line beside it, and avoid random mid-board merges.
Once you reach Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or higher, avoid dragging those larger tiles into the center.
Mercury should become Venus, Venus should become Earth, and the whole planet chain should keep rising in order along one stable edge.
If you already know classic 2048, the same corner discipline and patience still win here.
2048 Space Basics works smoothly on phones and tablets. Open it in a modern browser and swipe to merge space tiles with no download, no signup, and no app install.
Best score is saved locally in your browser, so this theme keeps its own progress separate from the other space variants.
